Did we just become best friends?

Soooo... I've thrown my enchanted forest wedding ideas (along with inspirational photos) to a couple of florist/event designers. And they both quoted me anywhere between 8-12000 dollars?!?!?

I do not want to pay that much for decor and event design. I still want to use one of their services and will meet to see if a happy less than medium can be reached. Might have to downsize a big on the grand scale, and have forest touches.. can't bring the forest into the ballroom !!! lol.

With that being said, I might have some diy projects underway. http://www.save-on-crafts.com/ might have just become my close friend!

Marriott Ballroom

The ideas are pouring in

Now that I have my theme in mind, the ideas are rolling in for me and i am super inspired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The tentative date will be October 7th if we go with the Marriott.
i think i want unique seating arrangement like this. and i like the idea of pinks and purples for an enchanted forest too. i'lll let the base color of the venue decide. the tables are great because this is the first time we are combining friends family sorors colleagues and community folks all in one. i haven't been this excited in some time.  we are touring a space this weekend that looks like the one in this picture...
Of course I'll need to see if our venue will allow for the draping of the greenery.. come to think of it.. this space looks like the hyatt at the bellevue... hmmm

If we can't get the beautiful tree look below..

The "tree" atop the escort-card table was created from crab apple and cherry blossom branches, and adorned with hanging candles. Escort cards by Two Paper Dolls were placed on the base made of wheatgrass and moss.

Enchanted Forest Theme!!!!!!!!!

So we have decided on our theme for our wedding!!! Enchanted Forest :-)

Lots of greenery and lighting.
For the reception tables, manzanita branches with hanging votives and crystals.
The bridesmaids can have different colored dresses to create a color variant: rust, gold, burnt orange, cranberry..

Maybe navy blue can be the base color for the suits.

I'm really excited. We are thinking of still having this at the marriott. There are a couple of more venues to visit first before making our decision, plus we want to come to terms on the menu which will determine price.
Of course.. here are the inspirational pics!

I really like this idea replacing trees

This cake is gorgeous!!

Inviting the Obamas

So I read on my soyoureengayged.com feed this morning that if you send the president an invitation to your wedding, you will get a congratulatory letter back. Yes.. I do think it is kind of silly to invite the president to your wedding... lol. But I think its cool at the same time. Logging this information in for when the time comes...

A lesbian couple has done this already, their letter reads:

“Congratulations to you on this special occasion. Michelle and I hope it is blessed with love, laughter, and happiness. your union marks the begining of a lifelong partnership as you share in the joys of your life together. I wish you the very best as you embark on your journey together and hope that your bond grows stronger with each passing year.”

Invites...

This is a lovely example of a diy wedding invitation: http://www.projectwedding.com/blog/2009/03/17/elegant-do-it-yourself-invitations/

cardsandpockets.com has some nice envelopes
invitesite.com had some nice textured invitations... just for inspiration.
colorschemer.com helps with creating color schemes :-)

I want the invites to pop. I'm thinking I want to incorporate fabric into the invitations.. either a fabric covered flat box for the invite or something else...
